Hey guys! Welcome back for another round of the One Room Challenge™: What Have I Gotten Myself Into?! Log. This past week, I've been super busy installing what felt like 1,000 rolls of wallpaper but was actually only three.
That's the original plan, which called for adding wallpaper above shiplap. I recounted last week how I ended up blowing the shiplap budget on fancy electrical work. It was actually a happy mistake, which you can read all about here. And I'll admit, once the wallpaper installation began, I was even happier with my shiplap knock-off. It made the room feel so much brighter and taller. I actually started feeling cabana vibes. After the terribly cold Spring we've endured, I'm not mad at that one bit.
A few of our accessories began arriving and I was elated to throw them haphazardly into the space. All in all, they look truly wonderful. Now, I know the room is looking particularly green right now, but trust me, the end result will speak more to navy than green. I have a few tricks up my sleeve for mocking those gorgeous Serena & Lily chairs that I just can't afford. Those will bring in a ton of blue which will shift the overall palette of the room. That big wad of fabric on the table will become curtains. I even bought a sewing machine! I'll admit, I haven't opened it and I'm terrified to use it, but there's a first time for everything, right??!
But you don't care about the dishes and placemats. You're here for a tutorial, right? Okay, here you go. Just please don't make too much fun of me. I get it. I'm a noob.

Use proper tools.

Wallpaper Smoothing Tool
Wallpaper Glue
Paint Roller Kit
Painter's Tape
Start at the seam.
Don't apply the whole sheet at once. Only apply the first three inches around the seam and apply as close to the last sheet as possible.
Don't cut corners.
Layout your pattern so you never have a seam in a corner, as this will cause additional stress and the seam will peel more easily over time.
