This room has been a true labor of love and I think it's reflective of my personality and our family's spirit. It's fun. It's formal enough, but the overall vibe screams Come on in! Have a drink!

I want to give you all the run-down on how I took a simple mood board and turned it into my literal DREAM ROOM, but honestly.. you're here for the photos. I have a tutorial post about the chairs (Serena & Lily knock-offs that I DIYed) and curtains (Genevieve Gorder Collection fabric hand-sewn by ME!), but if I go there today, it would take an hour to read. And frankly, there are so many photos I want to show you. Every angle of this room feels decadent, but the project was completed for under $2,000! So I'm totally going to share my DIY tutorials on another day. But for now, can we just bask in the glory of a final project?
Here's how I saved money -
1. DIY Designer Knock-Off Chairs
2. $15 Scarf as Table Runner (Old Navy!!)
3. Shiplap Alternative
4. PAINT - so. much. paint. The walls. The buffet. The mirror. The chairs. Literally, everything was painted.
5. Shop Sales - This wallpaper was on clearance for $18 a roll. Original price was $80 a roll. Sure, it changed literally my whole plan, but what a happy ending!
6. No Rug - Do you need it? Eh. If not, ditch it. This room wasn't made for a rug. It's too small. Plus, crumbs in a rug are just terrible. So I nixed the idea altogether.
7. Big Box - The placemats are from Ikea and they were $4 a piece. That's not a typo. FOUR DOLLARS.

I refinished this old bar cabinet, instead of buying a new one. The end result is something I truly love. Just a little paint, acrylic hardware from Amazon, and a reconfiguration of the shelves has turned this piece into a functional stand-out in this room. Its previous iteration, as a dark, boring cabinet, is just a memory.

I enjoy the unexpected in interiors and these sconces are a real defining point of this design. They mimic the globe pendant in our kitchen just oh-so-perfectly while adding a touch of modern to this space. They're budget-friendly, at $60 per sconce, adding the biggest impact for minimal investment.

These minimal place settings keep the vibe casual, offering guests the opportunity to serve themselves. This incorporates an unspoken rule of Southern Hospitality - when company participates in the hosting, they feel all the more welcome in your home.
